Tasmanian Reptile Wildlife

 Blue Tongue Lizard

This unfortunate lizard was bailed up by the family dog. Thankfully, he was rescued and able to walk away unhurt.

Warning!!!

This lizard gets its name from its blue tongue.  It flicks it in and out to “taste” his surroundings. It is also used as a warning to other animals as “blue” in nature means danger.

Lizard Rescue

Blue tongue Lizards love summer fruit and this one was caught in a net that was covering my raspberries. I was able to gently cut the net and release it unharmed.

Mt Wellington, Kunanyi, Tasmania.

Hobart is so fortunate to have such a wonderful natural scenery for a capital city. It has the Southern Ocean, sea, bays, the Derwent River...
